Reasons abound to keep backyard chickens – it might be for fun, food security, tick control or producing fresh eggs or meat on a budget. My husband and I have been raising meat birds and keeping laying hens for years, and I can’t imagine having my families’ eggs supplied another way.

Regenerative agriculture is the new organic agriculture in my opinion. In organic agriculture, the list of prohibitions is long and the list of what to do is absent. In regenerative agriculture, the list of prohibitions is absent and the list of principles of practise is short, specific and practical. This list ensures that the soil, which is the foundation of all things living, will improve over time.

Phosphate (P) is essential to plant growth. Phosphate in the soil is taken up by the growing plant and returned to the soil when the plant dies, or, if the plant is eaten by an animal, the phosphate is returned to the soil when the animal defecates and when the animal dies. This is the natural cycle.
