You might be surprised to know that 6,000 years ago … what? 4,000 B.C.? … yes … people in China were preserving cabbage WITHOUT the use of freezers or even canners. They made sauerkraut even then. Captain Cook took 60 barrels of sauerkraut when he set out on his second around the world tour.

Should we eliminate Daylight Savings Time (DST)?

Here in Manitoba, the opposition NDP has launched a website at https://www.mbndp.ca/daylight_savings_consultation to ask Manitobans if they want to continue with our present Daylight Savings practise or change to something else. The reason they are considering this is that some experts are saying there are negative consequences to keeping it the way it is. Both Manitoba Public Insurance and Workplace Safety observe an increase in accidents following the time change.

Make it a Resolution: Park the Car

ParticipACTION suggests that a healthy adult should be getting over 150 minutes of exercise per week. 300 minutes per week would be even better. According to Statistics Canada, only 15% of Canadian adults meet the minimum. I expect that does not surprise any of us.
