Monthly Meeting 24 Nov 2011: Simpler Living

North America currently makes up approximately 20% of the world's population, but uses 80% of the world's resources. This runaway train of unjust consumption has affected much of the population of the globe, compromising their ability to feed and care for their children and themselves. It also threatens to leave us, in North America, with a compromised environment, jeopardizing the future of our own children. How do we slow down or stop the train? How do we get off? Join us for a presentation of these issues, and a discussion about how we might move forward justly, and thus redemptively.
Presenter: Val Hiebert, Professor of Sociology at Providence College
When: 24 November 7:00pm
Where: Eastman Education Centre, Loewen Blvd, Steinbach

Those who turned out for Val Hiebert's presentation on "Simpler Living" last week experienced a stimulating, thoughtful evening. For those of you who missed it (and wished you had not), and for those of you who want more information, check out the Providence Sociology home page.
