Producing your own Mushrooms and Maple Syrup - Wednesday March 27

Group Promotes Local Food Production

Written by Sawyer Klassen on Friday, 29 March 2013 (SteinbachOnline.com)

The South Eastman Transition Initiative hosted a seminar about producing your own maple syrup and mushrooms Wednesday evening. Co-founder Gabriel Gagne says they are trying to encourage people to produce food locally.

"It allows us to reduce the amount of stuff we are moving around on the planet, because right now we are moving tons and tons of material around the planet while we could be producing it and consuming it locally."

Gagne explains the event went extrememly well, as everyone who was there was very interested and asked great questions.  He notes attendance was also ideal. "We had 28 people attend.  The room was pretty packed, so a few more people and it would have been too much.  So it was perfect for the room we had." Gagne adds anyone who missed the event but is interested in producing their own food can reach him through the South Eastman Transition Initiative website.
