Seeding Workshop
This past Saturday we had a Seeding workshop at Sunshine Nursery in Steinbach. Spending a dreary, not-quite-Spring morning inside a greenhouse surrounded by lush green plants was very refreshing and motivating. Janet Blatz lead the workshop and did a fabulous job. She taught us all about heirloom tomatoes, saving, caring for and transplanting seedlings and many other wonderful gardening tidbits. We all got a chance to choose particular tomato and pepper seeds and seed them ourselves. The goal being that at the end of the summer we can all get together and exchange seeds from our thriving tomato (and pepper) plants. How's that for maintaining seed diversity in Steinbach!
Janet even let us transplant a pepper plant from the Nursery's stock, just to give us a head start with the peppers. I chose a spicy banana pepper! I can't wait to make picked banana peppers in the fall! Yum!
Thanks Janet! We all had a wonderful time and learned a ton!
Don't forget about our upcoming Pro-biotic Drinks workshop on April 27th. Check the info on the right-hand side bar for more info!
