Solar Dryer Demonstration

homepower.comTim & Janet Kroeker of Roseau River, MB have invited our own Jack Heppner to their home to help build a solar food dehydrator similar to this. If you've got lots of food to dehydrate and would like to use the sun's energy to do it, this may pique your interest.

Note: This is a demonstration - not a hands-on workshop. It's also a free way to see the construction process in action, meet people, and connect with an experienced builder!

 A big Thank you to Northern Sun Farm for your warm welcome of our (unexpectedly large) group tour last Wednesday! It was a wonderful evening of exploration for all who attended, and an opportunity to reflect on the kind of lifestyle that is possible with the right knowledge, community and collaborative effort.

July 29 Tour: Northern Sun Farm Co-op

The folks at Northern Sun Farm Co-op will be welcoming us again for a tour of their off-grid self-sufficient community. Recent developments include construction of a cold storage unit & water tower! If you haven't visited this community (established over 25 years), this is a great opportunity to see alternative living in action. For those familiar with the co-op, you'll certainly want to see what's new!

Green Drinks July 14 2015

Join us at our GreenSpace Options outdoor space on the corner of First and Brandt in Steinbach for Green Drinks on July 14. The GreenSpace management committee may have a few little jobs for us to do, but many hands will soon get the work done, and then we can get down to 'green' business.

Bring a drink, a friend, a question or just come to enjoy some company outside. From 7pm

GreenSpace Options Workday a success

Over a dozen volunteers showed up on Saturday to spread compost on a large area of the GreenSpace Options experimental site at the corner of First Street and Brandt Road. We enjoyed the pleasure of shared work, a common vision, lots of visiting and even tasty treats at break time. What a great way to spend a morning! Anyone is welcome to visit the site to take note of what's happening there on this first year of a three-year project.
